Wolf Lizzy and human Jeremy have loved each other since childhood. Jeremy, a pro football player, is given the illegal werewolf drug W to enhance his skills in the new sports world of humans and shifters playing side by side. The drug causes severe and often fatal withdrawal symptoms if not taken regularly. Running away to save Lizzy from being kidnapped by another pack who want her as a breeder, Jeremy is thrown into withdrawal. To save him from death, Lizzy bites Jeremy, making his change to a wolf complete so his body can heal itself of the drug's effects. Lizzy has broken Rule One: never bite a human or face death. She must either return to the safety of her own pack and face her fate to give Jeremy a chance to live.
